Exploring the places of manufactures and handicrafts’s recovery from Lebanon – Beirut – to United Arab Emirates – Dubai -, Tommaso Garner and Giorgio Di Salvo are two travelers called by RADIO to tell what they saw in that lands, collect images and elaborate them as they were kind of foreign correspondents. Next step is juxstaposing the pictures afterwards to provoke and highlight the override of the dialectic between production and committent.
RADIO is a project conceived by 2DM illustrator Marco Klefisch, an exhibition area selecting audio and video publications from “guest owners” every two months. Don’t miss “Immagini Spezzate” from May 27th at RADIO, via Pestalozzi 4, Milan from 6pm.

Visions from the future – Iridescent Worlds

Visions from the future – Iridescent Worlds

Challenging space and time has always been one of the overriding aims of Science Fiction, as well as the starting point from which the plot of the story should unfold its events. Well, at least this process worked in late 60s when science fiction was born, before the actual computer diffusion and domination. Instead, our multi-media era is distinguished by the raising of masses’ power of expression and interaction, which blew up very quickly and in quite unexpected ways considering the Internet, the new technologies and the audio-visual improvements.

The role of science and fiction thus becomes crucial nowadays, tracing our everyday reality. Curious? Get this new-media visual experience and delve into the issue through “Visions from the future – Iridiscent Worlds” – an international competition of video and live media presented by Cronosfera (May 28th – 29th – 30th, Turin, Italy).

Now that Science Fiction has become part of our everyday life and we’re actually experiencing it, we can say that there’s no fiction anymore, while science, instead, has extremely grown up.

Moneyless @ Syntasizer

Moneyless @ Syntasizer

It’s impressive how figurative art can convey deep insights through only lines, colors and shapes in a plain geometric space.
Over the past few years, Teo Pirisi aka Moneyless has been performing this exact process of removal, obtaining complexity and completeness through simplicity and neatness. Starting with writing and lettering all over the walls, he immediately felt constrained within the two dimensional scale, and subsequently began to use different rough materials such as twine and wool yarns to give his figures a three-dimensional existence. These medias are real constituents of his unrelieved dialectical relationship with geometry. Cloves fix the focal points of the geometrical structures, created to represent things caught in the external physical world, then transposed into shapes conveying intangibile ideas of their reality. All the shapes are reduced, overall, yet still keep a tension that releases a nearly invisible motion. Hidden in the very inner shape, multiple visions and perspectives concealed by the entire structure finally cleverly come to sight, though interpretation by the holistic-eye is never instantaneous.

In Moneyless‘ words: “From my point of view, poverty in the very essence of the shape is a true richness, it represents the silence that permits the thought to emerge.”

If you’re intrigued in knowing more about this geometrical philosophy, Moneyless will be showing his works with paintings and installations from tonight @ Limited No Art Gallery, Via Porpora, 148 – Milan – together with Ryan Spring at Syntasizer.

Wonder Room 25th of February

Wonder Room 25th of February

Skye Parrott’s deeply introspective body of work, which draws energy from the likes of Nan Goldin (albeit a comparatively blithe energy), is tinged with the sublime ardor of human relation and a profound understanding of emotion. Through her photographs, the New York-based artist has appropriately honed a sensitive and poignant eye towards exploring the immense beauty that is to be found in even the most unlikely of instants. She has worked for clients as diverse as APC and Nike and has contributed to a range of seminal publications such as Purple, Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and Wallpaper* and is creative director and co-founder of the art journal, Dossier.

A special vision of Parrott’s photography is to be set forth in a seven-part slideshow by SM.
The work is next in line to grace Wonder-Room’s conceptual hybrid space in Milan.

Wonder-Room’s continual evolution is driven by a talented group of protagonists of visual culture, together comprising a collective focused on transforming the Milan and world creative scenes.
Wonder-Room
will continue its trajectory with several more unexpected experiments in creativity over the coming months.

Big appreciation for making everything possible goes out to Francesco Petroni for creative consultancy & art direction of the website, Giulio Martinelli for art direction of the website, the staff of ZoomArt for the development of the blog, Daniele Messa for development of the website, and last but not least, the staff of 2DM Management.
